House of Dreams
When Patricia and Kevin employed an architect to design their dream home, their brief was simple – clean lines, an open-plan layout and space for seamless indoor/outdoor living.
After owning an old fibro house for 20 years, the couple decided to build their first brand-new home on the site. The house has a bright and airy feel that makes the most of views of a quiet reserve and sparkling bay. The entrance has the feel of an atrium, thanks to the open space on two levels and three skylights overhead.
“We wanted to bring the outside in and give the interior access to the outdoors,” explains Patricia.
The couple has been reserved in their choice of furnishings. Downstairs, there are only two low leather lounges, a glass-topped coffee table and a dining suite. Colours are also kept to a minimum with walls painted in Dulux Warm Neutral and Snow White Cream. The effect is calm and uplifting with a sense of space and light.
“We really enjoy the place,” says Patricia, “especially when it’s a lovely day and we open the doors at the back.”
