Beach Rescue

When you walk into the stylish sanctuary that Tiffany and Brett have created, it’s hard to believe it was ‘completely unliveable’ just a few years ago.

The first three weeks were spent simply getting it to a state that they could actually live in, then over the following year they set about creating their dream home, employing a draftsman to draw up plans to their own design. “We love entertaining,” says Tiffany, “and extending the house out to a large undercover deck through bi-fold doors was a must. It then leads on to a pool.”

The walls are Wattyl’s Geisha White, chosen for its warmth and also because Tiffany loves the way it ‘pulls out’ the chocolate brown in the high-gloss blackbutt floors. Then they added some touches of vibrant colour in the form of a mint green feature wall to show off their daughter’s paintings from kindy, and also a hot-pink one – Porter’s Moulin Rouge – in the hall between their bedroom and the walk-in wardrobe.

The kitchen has an Ilve five-burner stove, built-in sinks and a Blanco dishwasher. The benchtops drop down to become a kitchen table with classic Thonet bentwood chairs – another stylish touch. In fact, the benchtops are carried through to the built-in barbecue area on the deck which flows out from the kitchen and living areas, providing a seamless indoor/outdoor living environment.

“We love so many aspects of this house,” Tiffany declares and adds that number one on the list is the sparkling pool fenced with glass through which she can keep an eye on the children from the kitchen. “With two young kids, leaving the house for a swim is challenging,” she says, “and the pool means we can all enjoy the summer.”
