Meet The My Home Team
Editor-in-Chief Margaret Megard
grew up in a family with more creativity than money. Her parents embarrassed her by decorating their home with second-hand furniture and castoffs they lovingly painted, varnished and restored. Today, Margaret thinks they were incredibly resourceful and talented and is happy to report that some of that spark has rubbed off on her. After a decade of editing home magazines such as Our House and Country Home Ideas, Margaret has seen tonnes of houses and when it comes to home decorating, she is keen to share what she thinks works and what doesn’t.
Editor Susan Kontic
spent too many years re-arranging words on corporate documents while hoarding pictures from magazines and creating dream homes in her mind, along with one or two for real. As editor of My Home since it started, she’s lost her heart to a dozen fabulous places and seen more clever ideas than she’ll ever have time to try. Susan heads a talented team who gravitate naturally to the coffee maker and regale each other with tall tales of products found and projects planned.
AssistantEditor Tess Kerbel
(BFA, MA in Creative Writing, Grad Dip in Editing and Publishing) can’t remember a time when she didn’t love to be creative. In her free time, she paints, draws, designs and writes everything from music to haiku. Before she joined the My Home team, she ran creativity workshops and taught classes in fiction and non-fiction.
Graphic Designer Ela Moxham
knew she wanted to be a designer from the moment she set foot in her first exhibition. Before she joined the My Home team, she worked internationally as a freelance designer, specialising in film, advertising and corporate design. She spends her spare time hanging out with her two gorgeous kids, Zac and Amaya, visiting art galleries and tracking down classic pieces to personalise her home.
Editorial Assistant Lauren Broomham
(BA, BCM) has dreamed of being a writer since she first picked up a pen. In her spare time, she likes to whip up new recipes, catch the latest movies and walk her two adorable dogs. My Home is the first magazine Lauren has worked on since graduating, so she’s excited to be out ‘on the job’.
